IS HOMESCHOOLING THE RIGHT THING TO DO?

This is a very difficult question to answer because there are just as many answers to this question as there are people willing to voice their opinion!

I think the greater question is homeschooling right for you and your child? My answer to this question would be that if you are asking this question in the first place, then yes homeschooling probably is the right choice for your family.

Once you have decided to homeschool the greatest challenge will be deciding on a homeschooling method.  Some of the decisions you will need to make include weather you want to purchase a curriculum, write your own, or use the natural learning method. You may even decide you would prefer to enrol your child in one of the many excellent distant education programs available.

My advice to anybody just starting this journey would be to talk to as many other homeschooling families as you can, and to keep in mind that there is no right or wrong way to home school. There are as many right ways to take this journey as there are successful homeschooling families!  The MOST important thing to remember is that you make your decisions based on what will fit you and your family’s values. There is no point in trying to persevere with a program that you and your child `hate’, trying to struggle on with a program that doesn’t fit will only frustrate you, and your child won’t learn anything!
