Eclectic Homeschool
We are this type of homeschoolers, we love to take the different parts of the different curriculums available that suit our learning styles and squishing them all together to make an interesting and engaging school time. Our eclectic method is not only confined to our choice of curriculum, it rolls over into our whole life from our taste in music to food and beyond.
So what is eclectic homeschooling?
It is deciding what teaching methods, values ECT that are important to you and your family and taking the pieces of the other teaching philosophies and various curriculums to meet your needs. The wonderful thing that I have found is that not being locked into any one curriculum has meant that it is easier for me to adjust what my kids are learning and how they are learning it.
The Pros
· It’s completely flexible
· Your kids can have a say in their schooling without you feeling like you are deviating from the curriculum/philosophy of choice
· Easy to adjust your program to meet your own individual needs
· You can use whatever is likely to engage your child making them more willing to learn
· Can be as cheap or expensive as you choose to make it
· You can leave out anything that you would otherwise find undesirable
The Cons
· It takes time to pull together your curriculum
· You may end up with some gaps in learning
· It can be expensive if you let
