Our Philosophy of learning
Our homeschooling Philosophy is to meet the individual needs of each of our children, this for us means finding the best ways to teach each individual child. I guess the best way to describe our philosophy is that we are Eclectic. You might be wondering what this means, well let’s look at that question.
What does eclectic mean?
"Selecting and using what seems best from various sources, systems or schools of thought."(World Book Dictionary)
“Composed of elements drawn from various sources”(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
“Not following any one system, as of philosophy, medicine, etc., but selecting and using what are considered the best elements of all systems.” (Dictionary.com)
I guess that sums it up! I write my own curriculums (yes I mean that in the plural), depending on the individual needs of each child. This allows me to ensure that each child’s education is progressing and the flexibility to change anything that is no longer working for that child. If you knew our family you would see that for us there would have been no other way to homeschool than in this very eclectic way that we do. Our method of homeschooling is in line with all our other choices in life, from out choices in food & music to our choices in almost everything else.
