Early literacy skills starts with letter recognition and sound correlation. Students must first learn the alphabet; then learn the letter sounds; then learn how they’re correlated (ie- words + sentences).

It is important to develop a strong foundation of letter identification and letter sounds in order to build strong phonological awareness.
