10 FREE Fall & Thanksgiving Activities for Kids!

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and being thankful. Here in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October. My family, doesn’t do much for Thanksgiving other than get together and share a meal. Thanksgiving in the USA seems to be widely celebrated with friends and family- maybe more than in Canada, but that’s just my experience! I thought it would be nice to put together some fun Thanksgiving activities for kids. Some of these include Fall Sentence scramble, How to Make a pumpkin Pie (Flip book), Colouring pages, Thankfulness Writing, Thanksgiving sentence scramble and much more! Thanksgiving Writing Activities

If you know me, you know that I’m BIG into phonics and reading comprehension. I love finding ways to increase student engagement while also strengthening their phonics and literacy skills. Use these free Fall and Thanksgiving Sentence Scramble to work on comprehension an building sight words.

How to Make a Pumpkin Pie

This writing activity is from my sweet friend Rachael. This is a great resource to help kids with procedural writing. A great activity for kids who are in Kindergarten- Grade 1. I love modelling expectations before writing. With kids, after baking and/or reading a story, writing down the steps of how to make a Pumpkin Pie. Thanksgiving Lap book Writing and Craftivity

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect and be thankful. This lap book is great way for kids to reflect with different sentence starters about “what to be thankful for”. I love how Laurin includes a spot for kids to draw pictures like “A portrait of me being thankful” and “A portrait of something that I’m thankful for”.

Thanksgiving Preschool Skills Clip Cards

These are one of my favourite clip cards to date! Kaitlin always has amazing stuff for preschool, and this is no different! These clip cards are great for learning colours and shapes! Make sure to download them for your little ones and/or classroom!

2D Shape Cards Thanksgiving Freebie

I just love these free 2D Shape Cards from Kelly! Using play dough is a great way to engage kids in a tactile and meaningful ways.

Thanksgiving Alphabet mats

Who doesn’t love a sensory bin mixed with phonics?! Jayme has the cutest alphabet match for Thanksgiving. Here kids will search for letters and match them to this colourful turkey. My son LOVED this one!

Thanksgiving Colouring Page

My Friend Alexa has the most wonderful clipart and colouring resources! I love this adorable little freebie that she created for Thanksgiving. Make sure to download it so your kids and/or students can enjoy!

Thanksgiving Scramble Sentences

Just love these adorable little turkey’s are just the cutest! Sentence scrambles β€” taking a sentence and mixing up the word order β€” are GREAT activities for (ELL) English Language Learners.
